About us

Calibro was born from a precise need and a belief that has grown over the years.

As an independent watchmaker and founder of Trematic, I have always felt the lack in Italy of a space truly dedicated to microbrands and independent labels. A place capable of telling a different story about watchmaking: more authentic, more direct, closer to the passion of those who create and those who choose.

Too often, independent watchmaking remains fragmented, hard to discover, distant from an audience that is instead looking for identity, craft and personality. There was no place that could bring all of this together, give it value and the right voice.

What better city than Rome for this?

Rome is encounter, culture, character. It is a city that knows how to recognise the value of time, history and things made with intention. Opening here meant giving this project the perfect context: a central, living place, able to welcome enthusiasts, collectors and the curious alike.

And so Calibro was born.

Not simply a shop, but a space dedicated to independent watchmaking and microbrands, where every brand tells a story, every product has a reason to exist and every detail speaks of craft and vision.

I wanted to involve other independent watchmakers so that Calibro would not be a personal showcase, but a shared home. A point of reference for those who believe that the value of a watch is not measured only by the name on the dial, but by the ideas, the people and the culture that brought it to life.

The name itself comes from this vision.

Calibro — the Italian word for calibre — is deeply rooted in watchmaking: it is the technical heart of a watch, the movement, what gives it life. But it is also measure, precision, substance.

Choosing this name means declaring a clear identity: putting quality, mechanics and content before appearance. Calibro represents what truly matters, what drives everything.

Because a great watch is not only what you see. It is what it carries within. And the same is true for ideas.
